The owner passed away, I believe from suicide, and the site went down for a bit because the owner's brother didn't have the passwords etc. to get in and fix it.

He did get it resolved after a bit, and got it back up and running. However it was an expensive proposition and he didn't have the funds, or I think the passion his brother had, to keep it going.

I know he looked at several options: selling it, turning it over to some existing members, etc, but I guess nothing ever came of it.

I just did a "whois" search on the dick.net domain name, it still shows the original owner as owning the domain. I guess his brother never got around to changing it.

Pity, it was a great site. Very supportive, friendly community. Much more bi/gay than this site, and not as many members but perhaps that is what made it feel more like a community.

I met quite a few great people on there. Had some great conversations both sexual and non sexual. That's one reason why I like to swap email addresses with people I connect with, in case the site we're on goes down we can keep communicating.

Not a bad idea by the way, if you meet someone you like, or find some good porn; save the info to a secure spot on your computer. You never know when a site could go down unexpectedly.

This site is great, and the one I use the most, but I will admit it doesn't have quite the same level of camaraderie dick.net had. I guess because there are multiple areas of interest which tends to segregate the members.
