all of a sudden I am getting these popups when I log on that Adobe will no longer function after Jan 12th. Something within Google Chrome is to take its place-
Is this all automatic ? seems I should be getting notifications plainly saying what I need to download?
Hopefully all of this gets handled automatically. Please only respond if you know definitively- no "I don't think that bla bla bla...."

I'm not sure if your message is from this site but Flash is no longer being supported from this year. Adobe Flash was an addon wich the internet used since the start but is getting replaced by html5.
Just uninstall it, most sites will work and a few won't but eventually they all should.
I'm not really sure what the question was so I hope this helped anyway.

Nothing to download. Flash is dead. Html5 is the new technology. You can already disable the flash plugin in your browser and you will not get annoyed by the nag screen anymore.

Thanks for the info- obviously not my area of expertise.
One of the tech sites I visited said HTML5 would need to be added to Chrome. Does that happen automatically, or do I need initiate its addition to my 3 year old PCs ? if yes, how?

Not the usual subject to comment on here but thought I'd echo the previous replies.
Flash in reality has been dead for a while now in terms of websites that still use it. You could have uninstalled it 6 months or a year ago (even longer than that to be honest) and you wouldn't have noticed any change in the websites you visit.
Just uninstall it to get rid of the popups and carry on as you have been

HTML5 should be built into all browsers even versions which are years old.
Time to uninstall Adobe Flash.
All the latest browsers can cater for video content without it now.

'Flash...saviour of the universe...he's in everyone us...hahaaaa ....'.....'Flash is alive!!!....'
Uninstalled but seem to have lost vid ability on Firefox...is that possible or had it some other cause

I've been getting these messages for awhile now using Firefox. I have the addon for Flash still installed and expect that eventually it will stop working because Firefox will remove the addon during an update like it has done for other addons I have used in the past. If at that time I run into a video I try to play that will not run because of an addon not found in firefox I'll google what to do and find an addon that will play it.
Occasionally I will run into a site, like motherless or xvideos or xhamster that are still expect Flash to be available for their videos.
Honestly most of the videos I want to play are porn and as a result I have to wait for those sites to modify their requirements before I can watch.

Like the person before me said. It's the site's fault. They've known about the changes for 2 years so it's just their laziness to bring it up to current technologies.
As the end user there's nothing we can do apart from wait.
Cool...agree with bfphawk the vids I want to run are porn so gonna have to wait and not worry. Appreciate the response

Good riddance. Flash is/was one of, if not THE, least secure utilities out there. Vulnerabilities to exploit, succeptability to attack, malware, and just plain data/info leaks. It should've been gone long ago.
I no more have any flash player plugins on my computer since years and never get any problems.
