As was said in the previous thread on this a couple of years ago; You only need to remember 3 letters to get round all of this. VPN

It's essentially just happening due to digital illiteracy.
Do they really think that those this is supposed to "protect" won't just be watching WebMs and GIFs on twitter? Or 4chan? Or tumblr?

Youngsters probably on Reddit. Own phone, no chance of being caught and subs can be immediately deleted when finished with (or so I've heard).
Your going to wonder what an Irish perv is doing on a thread about UK porn laws but what happens in the UK usually eventually is adopted by our government this new law will be a complete piss off I'm shure but if it helps with violence against women then maybe it's not a bad thing
As has already been said, VPN. You 'appear' to be in a different country and voila, you have full unrestricted access again.
The Tories have probably had a donation from one of the age verification companies.

Fair comments, it going to be a pain in the arse but no surprise things are getting tightened up!!
And none of this will work, just like none of the last proposed bill would work. It's being concocted by illiberal pressure groups and old politicians who don't know the difference between an ISP and a VPN.
They cannot physically force companies like Twitter, Google, Bing and Reddit to comply with backward, draconian rules (which will also fall foul of EU privacy and liberal freedom laws, as well as US laws), so the only option they will have is to block them, which they're not going to do.
And as others have said, all of this will be made redundant by VPN.
We need laws to hold companies accountable for allowing criminal content to be shared via their platforms, no doubt, but they're using this genuine problem as a wedge to inflict their moralistic bs on the rest of society.
We already have laws to hold ADULTS (parents) accountable for allowing their kids to view adult content. You can already be arrested and charged for giving anyone underage access to pornography.
Instead of actually enforcing these laws and holding the parents accountable for their terrible parenting, they want to shift all responsibility onto everyone else.
It should be down to PARENTS to actually be parents and use all the many tools already available to them to prevent their child from accessing such content.
But, they're lazy, incapable, incompetent and irresponsible, so they command that the entire world do their job for them.

I don't think that the proposals are really about targeting porn sites. More likely, the authorities are using access to adult sites as a testbed for introducing similar restrictions to the entire online experience. Meanwhile, the confected, puritanical concern for child safety does play very well with the readership of the Daily Mail/Express/Telegraph.
