I totally agree. The ease with which we are able to masturbate now is unprecedented. There is simply no way the magazines of the past could have kept my interest for as many long hours as I spend masturbating these days, or nights as you would have it.

I actually do miss the seediness of going into adult bookstores all horny and seeing other masturbators like me thumbing through the magazine racks. I probably spent more time back then driving around looking for porn than actually using it, but that's all changed now with unlimited internet porn.

When I was young there was a great stigma about masturbatuion, but now there is a greater openness and freedom, which, of course, is far better. Having said that, it still is not completely out of the closet, so I can see this present openness getting even better.

I have mixed feelings on this issue. Masturbation is certainly more out of the closet than it was when I was young and I think that is good. It still has a long way to go, however.
I enjoy porn and its easy availability, but I believe that it can lead to addictive behavior....or at least, spending too much time at jacking and edging. While I now virtually depend on porn for a good masturbation session, the sessions 60 years ago were just as enjoyable and there was little if any porn involved.
Bottom line: some things have changed for the better. Some are questionable (to me)

I agree. I'm glad there was less access to porn when I was younger. If there had been internet porn when I was at college I would never have done anything other than masturbate! As it is I've been wanking all day which on one level is a complete waste of time when I could have been doing other things, but on another is pure self-indulgence and very enjoyable. I will now continue what I was doing.

In a way I tend to agree about missing the way it used to be. When I was young there was virtually nothing but Playboy and the panty/bra section of the Sears catalog to masturbate to. Had to even visit a larger city to find a porn store. It was a turnon to see other masturbators there, especially women. There were only silent 8mm films. There were no VCRs and certainly no DVDs. So the availability of porn is almost too much. But masturbation is the same. It was wonderful then and it's wonderful now. I love it just as much.

The main thing I'm nostalgic about is how readily I could be aroused back when I was younger. In retrospect, it seems a good, solid erection was always a few minutes away. When I now look at photos I took of myself back when I was in my 20's or 30's, and the raging boners I used to have, I'm envious of that young guy I used to be.
