Star Trek, particularly in its "Next Generation" television incarnation, was just SO much better than the overdone overwrought Star Wars movies that it's really no contest.

Anyone care to weigh in on the issue which has become a full blown feud between William Shatner and Carrie Fisher?

I much prefer Star Trek to Star Wars, but let's face it: if it hadn't been for Star Wars, would there have been an interest to do Star Trek movies or ne series?

describing Star Wars as "overdone" when 11 Star Trek films have been made, with another one in production, and 5 television series plus an animated series seems a bit rich, they've both been completely milked dry.

For the record though, Star Wars for me grin

Star Wars was an overproduced children's story. Lucas stole so much from Trek, from Foundation (the Galactic Empire and "Jedi mind tricks" are straight out of Foundation)

Star Trek is science fiction, at least as much as a TV audience can take. And.. much better babes.

I love both. But I love the originals. No Capt Picard, no bitchy Haden Christianson; it has to be Shatner and Han Solo all the way.

Star Trek...just my opinion though. And you know what they say about opinions, "Opinions are like assholes, everybody's got one and everybody thinks everybody elses stinks"!

Come on...you really can't beat Captain Janeway! And then...Seven of Nine Tertiary Adjunct of Unimatrix 01...I'm gay and Seven got me hard, every week!!! HOT!

I have to go with Star Wars. It is Space Fantasy and combines what I love about sci-fi and fantasy genres. I'm a huge nerd and gotta get both those fixes. But that being said I got nothing against Trek fans. All nerds are welcomed. But you can't argue with the power of the Force! haha

Love me some Firefly, too, Candydarling.

But Babblin' 5 lost me in the first 5 minutes of the pilot and never won me back.

I like them both too, though if I had to pick one or the other I'd lean more towards Star Wars. The original series of Star Trek didn't really appeal to me for some reason. I think because it was from the 1960's and by watching it now in repeats it looks really outdated, but it's cool they went back and gave all the episodes a digital facelift. Next Generation and Star Trek: Voyager were two of my favorites. I liked the movies, but Star Trek 4 and 6 stands out the most and Star Trek 5 was defnitely a departure. Next Generation series of movies were great. I enjoyed the reboot with Chris Pine and Zachary Quinto. With Star Wars the main problem is George Lucas has always been a perfectionist, but why mess with something that is already fine the way it is? Like a great artist tweaking a masterpiece you keep messing with it you won't be able to recognize it anymore, altough I did like the Special Editions and the stuff he was able to add or enhance that he didn't have the time or technology for back when the movies were first made. Episode Three was my favorite.

I do no know which is "best", i enjoy both, if i had to choose one over the other to watch any given night i would choose Star Trek, for me it comes down to this is much more secular than star wars. my son is six, and he loves star wars, when he is here we will watch a couple of the movies, play the games and such things. but for me, Mr. Spock is the shit!
