Casual poll. How do you feel about the Supreme Court decision? What broader impacts do you foresee? I'd like to hear.

Gays getting married: Weddings are expensive... wedding gifts are expensive... honeymoons are expensive... There will be thousands upon thousands of weddings. There will be millions put into the economy.

Gays not getting married: Zero benefit and zero into the economy.

Basically, if you aren't gay and give a fuck whether a gay person gets married, there's something wrong with you. These conservatives dedicating their lives (or even an hour of their day) to putting a stop to two people in love getting married, they seriously have something psychologically wrong with them. Have you ever heard them talk about it? With the utmost hate. It is the ultimate sign of narcissism and hypocrisy when you try and stop someone from doing something that that has made you happy when you know it would make them happy. That is a sure sign that someone has at least a minor psychological disorder but most likely a moderate one. Who knows what hate they obsess about behind closed doors.
I don't think those same hypocrites would want the government checking on their jackoff website accounts! laugh Mind you own fucking business when it comes to someone else's personal life and all is well! wink

This. We all have things we think and believe. Live YOUR life and let others live theirs. Id even go so far as to say. Disapprove if you must. But get out of the way of others happiness. Life is to short for this shit.

I am a "live and let live" kind of guy. A guy marrying another guy or a woman marrying another women, doesn't affect my marriage in one bit.

I did see a funny thing on FB today. A guy posted "I approve of any marriage that doesn't include ME!"

Honestly, im ambivalent about it all, to each their own. That said, I'm so fucking tired of all the hype. It's very en vogue these days to be pro gay, almost like its some kind of fashion statement. It's exhausting being surrounded by an omnipresent PC movement everywhere you turn these days. Wanna be gay? Great, have at er! Do we really need to celebrate it?

After all the hate, oppression, bigotry, and prejudice we've had to put up with over the years (not all of which has gone away) allow us a little celebration - it won't last! grin

Why do we need government approval for marriage ? It is a contract between hearts and minds and before God . But now that government is involved and has redefined the meaning of marriage to allow a group entitlements it was not can we redefine other things to help even more out ?
Would love to have WIC benefits why should only women and children get that ? How about the same monthly checks native Americans receive ? I can use the help ? It is not fair to work 60 hours a week when the handicapped get monthly checks for just existing . Why can't I get tax exempt status just like any church ? Why can't a white male receive the same government based scholarships programs afforded to African Americans and other minorities ? Why do non skilled immigrants get better federal interest loans to buy hotels and gas stations than I ever could )
Let's keep this this up and open the flood gates of these benefits to all us hard working Americans !

If a government document makes homosexuals feel better great . As for me I would prefer they stay out of marriage all together and maybe women would go back to birth control instead of relying on government demanded child support , alimony and the slew of other benefits given to the single mother who more often than not goes on to raise societies future criminals .

Anyone who wants happiness look to yourself and God . Do not invest it solely in other people's approval . Anytime you require something from the government think , is it worth having men with guns take it from your neighbors and give it to you .

Enjoy marriage , the alimony , child support , in some cases additional taxes that may come from it and please use it to raise children to contribute to our great society to keep it from decaying further . I would like to think federal approved marriages mean children raised by homosexuals will not be the basket case idiots unable to provide for themselves financially that I have met .

I don't really feel like this is the forum to deconstruct all you said. But Of all the things you said many of which were pretty hateful. This stands out to me. Would you really trade places with someone who lost a leg serving their country? Would you really trade places with someone who lost an arm or hand or hearing in a factory work environment? Or who is so ravaged by disease they can barely function? Just to get a measly below poverty level check from disability? What a hateful thing to say. And this from someone who claims....on a jerk off site no less....to know god. I dont know your religious affiliation. But I'm curious what you think say Jesus would say to you about that? The rest of what you said whatever....I mean I disagree with a lot of it. But this here in particular....just wow.

Ever notice people who can not counter logic and facts resort to saying your hateful , racist , sexist etc ?
Read again what I wrote and the context should be clear .
I do not want to trade places with anyone who is unable to provide for themselves or lack the skills and talents I have earned or been blessed to have .
The point was if marriage can be redefined by the government to include people previously ineligible to receive all the benefits and responsibility that comes with it why not redefine other institutions and programs so even more people may benefit !
As for what Jesus would say I would hate to put words in his mouth . From his teachings I believe Jesus would want me to help those unable to help themselves and to teach those who are able to help themselves to do just that . Given his run ins with the local governments I doubt he would suggest have men with guns take your earnings and disperse it to whom the state believes should have it instead .

Marriage does not belong to the Church. The contract of marriage is purely a civil matter endorsed and approved by Government. The celebration of marriage can take place in any approved premises by any person approved by law - the Church, of course, has the right to either support same sex marriage or not but such approval is only the expression of their own opinion and has no bearing on what is lawful. Even more so in the US where, unlike here in the UK, there is no Established church. Over here 10 or so senior bishops from the Established church are appointed to the House of Lords (our second chamber) and are therefore part of the legislature.

I happen to approve of marriage between any loving couple and am glad that the US Supreme Court has finally approved, belatedly, what has been happening for years in most of the Western World.

Marriage has its roots as a religious ceremony long before the government laid claimant to it .
If people want beaureacrats blessings instead in order to be happy then so be it . It is a concept I will never grasp .
As for the Supreme Court there is nothing in the constitution about marriage . Why do men with guns need to see other states acknowledge this ? What doors has the court opened by ruling in this manner ? Could a son now Marry his father ? Could polygamy be legalized ? The argument for gay marriage can be applied to most any Union and by the courts language should not have issue passing .
There was no ruling based on law just boiled down to personal feelings on the subject .
