I had it done at about age 35 (about 15y ago). Haven't noticed any differences since then. We only wanted one child, so it was time.

The procedure was not a big deal. A little sore afterward, but the pills the doc prescribed took care of it. Not really any cons.

My wife and I haven't had to bother with birth control since then.

I had one, really no impact. Just no little swimmers in the pool.

Now something of note, be sure the local anesthetic takes hold before the procedure starts. My Dr. started almost immediately which made me sit up straight pretty darn quickly. But he gave me a bunch of Viagra samples to compensate.

No big deal, best thing is we can fuck anywhere we want without the chance of getting pregnant.

Had mine at age 39, absolutely no complications, no pain, no discomfort. ALL NORMAL and good.
There are 2 clinical procedures: one is the small incision on each side of the scrotum. The other, perfected in China and introduced in USA about 25 years ago is a small punctur in the center seam of the scrotum thru which each vas is pulled, snipped, cauterized, wet. NO STITCHES! I had that one.

...I got mine in 2007. The procedure was short and sweet but remember, they are using cutting tools on your "junk" so there are 2 needles applied to freeze your "boys" so hang on, your toes will curl for a minute or two...
No issues post-op. The bag of frozen peas does it's job and I never experienced any excessive swelling or bruising.
You submit your "samples" to the lab at the prescribed intervals until they finally tell you, "all clear, have at her.."
Now, here is the main reason I decided to reply to your post... My procedure was what's called a "closed-ended" procedure.. The Vas Deferens is clamped both upstream and downstream and then snipped in between the clamps. Other procedures only clamp the downstream of the Vas allowing the "producing end" to stay open.. Now, with the closed end procedure your testicles don't know that there is now a plumbing blockage and they still produce the same seeds and travel fluids that was explained to me, simply gets re-absorbed by the body. But liken it to pinching off a garden hose... I experience something called "Post Vasectomy Congestive Epididymitis". Its something I experience at least once a year and have found experiencing it over time is brought on by excessive sexual activity and masturbation. The Epididymis is the structure that connects the testicles to the Vas at the bottom. Occasionally I would wake up and feel a "tenderness" in one of my balls. By about 12 hours later it would really hurt to the mere touch.. The first time it happened I was freaked out and was close to going to the ER fearing a torsioned testicle but reading info on the interwebs here made me conclude this was vasectomy related and wasn't as dire as I thought. Tylenol and about 5 to 7 days of patience and all becomes right again. As I said, it only happens to one testicle at a time, never both at the same time and for me and about once a year so I know when it happens and know what I need to do.
Do I have any regrets in having this done? None at all. the benefits over the years have outweighed any of theses "glitches". Would have an open-ended procedure prevented this? From what I read it could be a crapshoot as I read some with the open-ended have experienced the same thing so maybe its not conclusive. Note, this does not happen to ALL guys so don't let this testimony significantly influence your decision negatively, its just an information share of my particular experience. I just wish my Urologist would have mentioned this possibility to me during the early consultations..(if he even knew of this..). Good luck Lad, all the best!
