Yahoo is turning off their messenger at end of month. does anyone know of another chat program like yahoo had that will let u do what it did. Swap pics chat and video

If you'd bother to read the message Yahoo are sending out, you'll see that they are only turning off old versions of YIM. Upgrade to their new platform and you're fine.

the new one is an online version. and from what i can see it does nothing that the other ones do and i cant even delete previous chats so that makes me think anythign i do on it will stay online and i dont want that so before u act like a know it all why dont u look first

New version of YIM is a mere shadow of the old one. Doesn't work anywhere near as well. Really disappointed with it, but have no option but to go with it. Skype doesn't do the picshare thing at all well, and most of the others like Kik are for tablets and phones, neither of which I have or want.

i have deleted yahoo now, it syncs up to your phone like facebook messenger does and is always online. Dont want the risk of my JO buds getting in touch when i am at work or my other friends finding out that my phone number is linked to an account with a porn pic for an avatar lol

Yesterday, messenger on my PC said it had to update. I updated and boom...gone are all my contacts, and it is just like the online mail one. The supposed "help" regarding your old contacts was useless, Uninstall and goodbye. Oh well...I loved yahoo messenger, and the old chat rooms too. No one was using messenger anymore anyways...so its the final end of an era I guess.

looks like the new version has a drag and drop pic share facility but havn't tested it out with a bud using current version yet.

For Gawdsake don't install the new Yahoo messenger on your phone. As mentioned previously it picks up all your contacts on the phone.
Always use an alias with Yahoo.
Also - try and backup your current Yahoo contacts before updating to the new version.

Sort of wonder why they came out with a new version when the old one was fine. Can't even see who is online now.

And tablets or phones are no good for our hobby. To have a good online wank and chat with pics you need to be sitting at a desktop.

As usual, Yahoo stuff up everything they touch.

Does any one know much about qTox for trading and chat?

I used to use web.skype, and not have to carry what device I'm on.

But now that messenger.yahoo (web) also works even better, I'm more open to Yahoo. Still haven't figured out how to add people, and the groupings don't seem to work either.

But the picture share works very well, better than Skype in my opinion.

You can delete previous 'conversations' by clicking on the "i" info button on top right, then remove conversation.....BUT WAIT, prob is now it deletes all the contacts. and if you compose to look at your contacts like Yahoo says you can do, they are gone from there too....YAHOO SUCKS
