why do they keep getting closed? some of us put a lot of work into our rooms.
i am a porn/masturbation addict.....and i love it!
Then tell the people who keep turning the threads into "now" threads to cut it out.
As has been reminded more than a few times recently - including every time a post just like this one crops up - the boards are not intended for posts looking for immediate response. Any threads that begin as or become "now" threads will be closed. If you're looking for an immediate response, we've got a chat room.

i run a room so i never post looking for "now". i agree that those posts are stupid. but why close a thread because of it? i dont understand the big deal as far as the board goes. its annoying for me cuz then my room gets burried in a bunch of bs posts but its better than no thread at all.

Really genius move, close one of the most popular threads on this forum! Give some people even a tiny bit of power, and it goes to their head.

Not gonna lie this has become quite annoying. I understand the reasoning behind it but the execution is flawed. How many registered users does this forum have? Not all of them are gonna adhere to the rules and they do need to be reminded of them.
However, updating an index shouldn't be a problem. I know that's not the issue at hand but that is the general idea behind those threads. Even if those threads have a notice posted in bold, all-caps at the top other users would still do it.

Thank you! And some of us put a lot of work into those posts that some petty authority figure decides to wipe out with a couple of keystrokes!

It's the cliche of a few bad apples ruining it for the rest of us.
Rod has asked that people don't post multiple times in the Skype and Yahoo threads, and there have been registered users who post their info every 2 hours over the course of a day.
Just yesterday there was 3 similar threads about kik from the same user on the front page.
People don't follow the rules, and complain when they get caught

What rule did I break to warrant this punishment? It's a helluva a way to treat people who actually contribute to this forum.

You start a new thread to advertise each room you create for a model, which probably gets turned into a "now" thread by some other user who can't follow the rules.

Is it a question of server space that is the reason of the rule? I'm asking to understand and if that's the case, can I suggest deleting threads that haven't been active in 3-6 months?

Are you telling me that's what I'm supposed to do, or that's what I'm not supposed to do? In any case, that isn't what I did. So what infraction did I commit that warrants erasing all my work?

I spent a number of hours over several days putting together a single post that listed all 11 of my video rooms with a description of each, along with sample images of the models, since each of my rooms is devoted to a specific female model.
It was a lot of work, and now it's been completely wiped out. THANKS a whole hell of a lot to the genius who erased the whole damned thing.

I'm here to bate, not debate.
My participation in this conversation is over.

Instead of arguing, I will now simply give some feedback as to why I think a thread for these rooms is better than posting them in the chat.
These rooms thrive on a sustained large population. When they are posted to the thread, the link stays visible for longer. Users familiar with the thread begin to recognize the quality rooms, so when an update or link (with a reasonable amount of time between posts) to one of these rooms is posted, the rooms can usually sustain a good population of active users. Someone who checks the thread a several hours after the link has been posted can usually still find an active room.
On the other hand, posting a room to the chat will bring some immediate users to the room, but the population will quickly fall, and the users are not usually as active. Not to mention, mycircle links aren't even allowed to be posted to the main chatroom.

It's a matter of "now" posts/threads being ineffectual or counter-productive to a message board vs a chat room. Several years ago, when the "now" posts rule was put into place, it was because of a dramatic upswing in people resurrecting zombie "now" posts...responding with something akin to, "Are you still on? I'd be glad to join you!" to a post made days, months, or even years earlier. It was cluttering up the boards, and wasn't doing anyone any good.
With the site being 100% custom code, there's no auto-pruning feature to erase older threads like you suggest. Manually going back to find those posts would be prohibitively labor-intensive, as it would shift moderation focus from current activity to archival duty.
