This was part of a compromise Discord made with Apple when they began allowing NSFW content. Adopting this process allowed the Discord app to remain in the Apple Store. Thanks for jogging my memory on that. Sorry you're not a fan of the structure allowing for spotlights on various types of content. We've found that it's actually beneficial in helping people find what they're looking for. |

You're not the first who's reported a similar message from the invite, but since it's a non-expiring invite and people still use it, not sure what it might be other than a big clue of "Safari." Apple is really weird in some of its initiatives to keep things "safe," so may be blocking attempts to join Discord via a link to an NSFW server. But that's just a guess. (FTR, Apple's gotten more prudish about such things after we made the move.) |

The latter is patently unwelcome. The former has always been a dicey minefield...we don't want to discourage people simply relating their own experiences, but it can also be uncomfortable depending on the content. We've typically chosen to err on the side of letting people share their own personal experiences unless there appears to be some ill intent behind it. With the same sort of goal of eliminating more unsavory elements of the site, maybe it is time to revisit the topic again, and just blanket eliminate any and all underage discussion, even if it's akin to, "The first time I jacked off I was (insert <18 age here)." Definitely something to think about. (I'm the first to admit that trying to plug multiple emerging holes in a boat single-handedly with the ancient, inefficient tools here can result in such reevaluation being low priority.) Such instant enforcement typically involves so-called "celebrities" whose ages are readily available public knowledge, and for whom verifying the age in a specific photo is a 5 second reverse image search away. It's nothing to do with the gender or orientation of the poster and/or subject. Let's be honest, though...it's far, far more common for such readily-confirmed content of others to be of girls/young women in the public eye than to be of boys/young men in the public eye, which can provide at least the appearance of correlation, but that's not indicative of causality. That appearance has clearly given those who demand being able to share others' underage images with impunity a nice straw man to trot out. Those with a vested interest in such bad faith arguments will, naturally, refuse to believe it when they're told that, whenever a ban - temporary or permanent - is put in place, we've never looked at what (if any) orientation that poster has selected for their stats or may have demonstrated in their posts' content. In a better situation, the site owner would be updating the site to either newer custom code or an off-the-shelf software set that would make communicating and affecting the sorts of possible changes mentioned above, along with moderation tools that provide options beyond temporary or permanent bans. But, so far, he's been resistant to doing so, and we've got to make do with what we have. Thank you for expressing your concerns. As noted, something to think about. |
