Hey Ben...here's a data point for you. I've been able to get in historically with the /server switch command. Updated JAVA a day or two...and just now tried to get in today..not using switch...NO JOY. Tried switch...again no joy. Tried Xxxchatters.com...again no joy.

I wonder if this can be fixed, it has been what, 3 months?

The problem has stretched out for months, and this thread now stretches to 15 pages.

So I'd say NO, it's not likely to ever be fixed.

I've posted on this thread a few times, to point out that you can ALWAYS get in through Internet Relay Chat. There is even a section on our Jackinchat Chat Login page about "IRC Server Info."

But this would require a software download on your computer. No one has ever commented on my suggeastion about using IRC, so I have no idea if anyone else has started using IRC or not.

We here at Jackinchat have 100% zero control over the chat server. There is nothing we can do to fix it.

And as I have already posted several times: The guy that runs the server does not appear to have any intention of fixing the issue.

Stop targeting us staff members here at Jackinchat. We are also annoyed with the issue but calling us out accomplishes nothing but further angering us.

Do you even read the discussion in here, or do you just blindly post your whines and complaints. Does it make you feel better about yourself?

If I knew when or if the problem would be fixed, don't you think I'd say something about it, instead of waiting for you to ask about it?

You make a good point. Installing IRC software and setting it up to work for the chat always works. For Windows users, the best best is to use mIRC from www.mirc.com

Its a pretty confusing program for a new user, but basically, you would use the server: irc.xxxchatters.com port 6667.

It asks for Real Name and Email address, I'd suggest putting in anonymous information, as everyone on the server can see what you put in.

You would then connect to jackinchat channel by typing: /join #jackinchat

Thanks for the tip about IRC. I tried it; but I guess I'll need to go back to the Help Resources page, 'cause I found myself in a jackinchat chat room all by myself...

so up til a week and a half ago the fixes always worked for me, but now it only gets to the welcome page, same problem chino77 had, no channels, no rooms, nothing. same when i try to get on from the xxxchatters page, ive even tried mirc and it doesnt work either. please help, am i a complete retard or has the room disappeared? i love chattin with everyone but i havent been able to for about a week and a half.any one got any ideas for me?

pvt me with the names you've used in the chat, I will check for bans. The symptoms you are describing are different than the other problems. It sounds like you've been banned.

The Security Parameter Problem is the sites own Problem not the users... I am sure it makes the paying advertisers as pissed as the members...

I recently get the security message, and I noticed that the page shows the both the channe;s and users boxes are selected. I di press the logon button and it jumped right to the correct place--this time. Good luck finding the source of this irritating problem.

The endless variations on the theme are great, and of course irritating. Rand, Good comment re the advertisers getting pissed. And thanks Ben for your patience and endurance!

Hey folks, it's just like a casino win sometimes, lose most times...

We don't make money from advertisers because people go to the chat room. They only pay us if people click the advertisements and buy products from them, which nobody does anyway so it doesn't matter.

And nowhere have we blamed the users of our site for the problems. I have specifically said that it there isn't anything wrong with people's settings. It is all due to the 3rd party that hosts the chat server for us, and his unwillingness to fix the problem.

If we cannot get on (including myself) and it has been like this for a very long time...

I have a brilliant idea - Does anyone know of another site we can all go to, that is similar to JackinChat and that does not have connection issues? I am sure everyone would be willing to move or change sites if people would be able to log on.

I am sure everyone is open to other options and sites...
