These are great memories! I'm going to have a hunt on that retro magazines site for some of my early purchases. I remember buying Mayfair from a station news stand with some money my auntie gave me when I was 12. I used to find magazines on the train (down back of seats) home from school and also in the station bins, as well as the odd stash in the woods. I too remember building up confidence to go in to various newsagents far enough from home to not be recognised, firstly to have a good look through what was on the shelves, then to choose my selection.
I started with Mayfair, graduated to Club and Men Only, then moved on to some of the racier stuff like Playbirds, New Direction, Whitehouse, Lovebirds, Raider, Rustler and so on.
We also had a great market stall near us which sold second hand mags- I bought lots there as a teenager, including some unusual titles. I'm definitely going to hunt them down! Later I became an aficionado of Private shops and various Soho sex shops- was usually by far the youngest customer. (first visited at 14!)
As I mentioned in an earlier post, there is a great shop on the Holloway road in London which buys up collections of porn when people die and relatives want to clear their houses. I'm thinking of treating myself to a trip there to see if I can get some of my teenage collection back. Will be great to have the physical objects once again- a bit like vinyl v MP3.

Still have a very good collection of Mayfair, Men Only, Club, Mens World, Rustley, Whitehouse, Playbirds, Shaven Havens, Razzle and Escort. All in near mint condition. May have to give webuyanyporn a call. I just don't have the space for the mags anymore.

I used to collect Hustler and would buy Playboy for the celebrity layouts. Never got into Penthouse though. Once I got my computer and internet i got rid of my magazines.
