Looks like the chat server owner has banned the Jackinchat.com chat application from the chat server. I was given no warning or reason for this.

The story I got this morning from one of the server operators is that someone from here thought he was getting hacked every time he joined the chat server, so he has been sending complaints to the chat server owner's ISP, who has threatened to kick him off completely.

I don't know anything else yet, I don't have the time right now to talk to the chat server owner about this as I have to go to work.


I will keep you all up to date.

The chat server owner said that if we switch back to the old java chat app we used to use, he would lift the ban. If you remember, we switched because users were getting a "security permissions" error. The chat server owner claimed he fixed the problem that was causing that, but we never bothered to switch back to the old chat since ours was working just fine.

This pissed off the chat server owner for whatever reason. Probably because our switch fixed the problem that he couldn't figure out, and our chat app was better than the one he was using.

That was many months ago, and I still think he carries that grudge. Well, since we didn't have a choice, we switched back to the old chat yesterday and sure enough we got the old "security permissions" error.

To let everyone in on a little secret, the owner of the chat server, for whatever reason, has never liked us here at Jackinchat. I believe he is trying to force us off his server and I'm afraid he may succeed.

I am going to be setting up the chat on a whole different network very soon here. It really shouldn't change anything except that all the other channels that were on the server won't be on the new network we are switching to. I don't see this as too big of a deal, our channels #jackinchat and #pornjackers will be there, which are currently 2 of the most popular channels on the current server anyway.

I will absolutely keep everyone up to date and please post any remarks or questions you may have.

Once again thanks for all you do for us who use your site. If they don't want us there I for one am happy to have you set up one here. Would it be available through irc.chat for those of us who use apple and don't have java capable systems?

Yes, the current chat is IRC accessible as well as the place we are moving to will be IRC accessible. I will post details soon.
