I can hardly wait til one of the kids writes a Tell-All book about the hell their publicity-seeking parents put them through. Religion entirely aside, their contribution to the planet's overpopulation, along with the media's support of this, is so typical of what's wrong with the world.

At least jacking doesn't contribute to excess of people!

Right on Pacer! It is indeed the plight of the children which is the issue here. As for the publicity-seeking parents, I wanted to puke when I looked at their website. And for NBC and the TODAY show to continue to present the cutesy, fawning pieces about this family is irresponsible journalism of the highest order.

I'm a Chrisitian, and I'm about as "lefty" as you get.

Assuming that we're talking about the left-right axis that has communism on one end and fascism on the other*, then your claim doesn't make sense. As 'lefty' as you get is in 'religion is the opiate of the people' territory. A long way in!

*Of course, communism and fascism are both totalitarian systems, so that 'axis' is as artificial as most other attempts to pigeonhole people and their views.

Correct...up to a point that you yourself bring up in the second half of this sentence:

nor is anyone's business if a private company wants to make a crappy reality show about them.

By going on news programs and their "crappy reality show," they and their producers conclude that we are interested...not only putting the information in front of the public, but presenting it as a form of entertainment. Thus, they do make it people's business (in the case of the producers, literally their business) how many kids they have, with a vested interest in continuing to increase the already unwieldy size of their immediate family to the potential (likely?) detriment of the offspring, for the purpose of remaining in the public eye.

In fairness, there's some good stuff to be found on TV, onan. But, as the saying goes, there's a good reason it's called a "medium"...because very little on tv is rare or well done.

I totally agree its rediculous, But...... they as much as it pains me to admit this. Support their massive brood themselves. They own and operate several buisnesses. A car lot, a motel I think and several others.
Is it unfirtunate for the women and children yes, but you can refuse to support them. One don't watch the show, Two don't frequent their buisnesses.
And keep in mind there is Alot of jacking going on there. No no to sex till your married........leads to lots of stroke
And yes I checked it asinine was spelled correctly. Also keep in mind they live in rural Arkansas where things like this are more readaly accepted. oddly thought his parents didn't have that many kids I think.
A mind is like a door or a window, it only works when open.

Actually, the "lefty" Christian is correct. The core values of the philosophy of Jesus of Nazareth and his immediate followers is incredibly socialist, collective and non-worldly. The problem with communism is that is just a form of capitalism in another guise. The problem with organized religion is it tends to corruption and brainwashing. However...I am happy to wear the labels of "socialist" and "Christian"... along with "Cock sucking, arse pounding, dick wanking queer" wink

Funny thing about totalitarian regimes - they are all exactly the same. Fascist and communist had more in common than not. Talking about a left/right axis is somewhat redundant when comparing the historical or current regimes of Burma, El Salvador, North Korea and Romanis.

Historically, Americans have generally not been ideologically driven in the national Republican-Democrat political divide. Most Americans really have very little concept of what the terms liberalism and conservatism really mean, in a political science sense. And they CERTAINLY don't have a clue what fascism means!

As for American liberalism, Wilsonian liberalism has only the barest nodding acquaintance with FDR's New Deal liberalism. As for fascism, it is at its most fundamental level anti-liberal, but ALSO anti-conservative. And while fascism was certainly founded by right wing Italian nationalists after World War I, in its German incarnation it was, from an economic perspective, a socialist movement. After all, the so-called "Nazi" Party was the Nationalsozialistische Deutsche Arbeiterpartei...the National SOCIALIST German Workers' Party.

Well, I'm certainly not suggesting that what they are doing is illegal in this democratic republic. But it surely is socially irresponsible....and arguably a form of child abuse. And I certainly feel free to criticize them and their bizarre religious practices. As for my suggestion as to their likely politics, could anyone have any doubt that these crazy people are right wing Republicans, and assuredly NOT liberal Democrats? Only the right wingers in American politics are this crazy, and I feel free to point that out. Lord knows the right wing Republicans spend plenty of time criticizing...and demonizing....everyone who disagrees with them.

Kent, I'll agree they are probably bible thumpin republicans (Considering they are from Arkansas). As for only the rightwingers bein crazy enough... the things both sides do is shocking and surprising... but thats kinda the nature of the beast... everybody wants to make a name for themselves.

EVERYBODY demonizes and criticizes people for not agreeing with them. The Libs and democrats demonize Republicans for not supporting Obama, and the Conservatives and republicans criticized and demonized the Democrats for not supporting Bush.
