Rick Santorum, Republican candidate for president has announced that he will ban pornography in his administration.

This will be part of a larger war against all forms of non-procreative sex, including homosexuality and contraception. He has also been on record as opposing masturbation, but has not yet issued a formal position paper on this in the campaign.

It will be an unmitigated disaster for many reasons if the Republicans gain the White House.

But one social issue will unite conservatives. Sex! They really have the idea that there's an epidemic of sex outside of marriage in the United States. And to them, unmarried women who are having recreational sex against the law of God, are improperly expecting insurance coverage for contraceptives. Even unmarried college coeds are having sex they say. And it horrifies them. Imagine the thought processes of these people when they go to the polls on election day.

The semi-literate religious fanatics are loose. They don't know facts. Facts don't interest them. They make up their own. They don't think. They don't know how. But they WILL vote.

God help the American republic.

So he wants to ban pornogrphy, but also doesnt want every US citizen to have life-saving health care? I'm glad he has his priorities straight and is doing what is right for this country.

There's no way he can win the election. Not a chance.

Yeah, I agree with Ben, I find the shake out of the GOP Presidential ticket entertaining to follow, but I do not feel Obama will have trouble winning re-election.

I agree that a Santorum win is highly unlikely. But that man is a religious fanatic. He says what he means and means what he says. So just in case, I may stockpile some printed and DVD porn.

I went to the Netherlands. I see what you mean about socialism. You couldn't walk down a street without having someone stop you and ask you to show proof that you were a virgin.

Some of the highest standards of living in the Western world are in the socialist countries of western Europe. Don't take my word for it, go to Google and look it up. The per capita GDP for all the western nations are there. America is well behind many of the democratic socialist countries of Europe.

But you're a Republican, and you live in a world where facts don't much matter. So your option would normally be to vote Republican. No problem. That's the way the system normally works. Trouble is this year, the Republican Party has gone freekin apeshit crazy. And the Republican candidates are like the clown car at the circus.

So what do the Republicans have as issues and proposals? Depiction of Obama as Stalin and Hitler.....opposition to contraception, even within marriage.....vaginal probes for women seeking legal medical procedures.....banning pornography and government censorship of the internet.....church-state government.....creationism in the schools.....banning of homosexuality. It goes on and on.

The problem with the Republicans is not that they have strange ideas about socialism. That's always true of Republicans. But this year the Republicans have become right wing religious fanatics. They want to run the country and remake it in their image. It's that simple.

There is really no choice this year except Obama. Because the great party of Lincoln went crazy.
