On your iPad, select the App Store icon. Do a search for the name of the app mentioned above. Install it. I would imagine it is FREE which is always good!
Go to iPhone downloads and do a search for a program called Rooms I use it for chat all the time on my iPhone 4. Works great! It is a IRC client. Once you download it you use it to search and load #jackinchat. That's it wait for jackinchat to load and chat with buds.
I have a 2010 iPad.and I go to the link I connected there I try to install it but it says I need iOS 4.3. It really frustrates me. please help me if you can.
Iz'm sure I'm not the only one with the first iPad so we would all be wicked grateful and happy to joinebery one one chat.
Thanks,

On mine, I use an app called Colloquy. We use a standard IRC chat server for the chat here, it just needs to be configured.
To configure it:
in the Colloquy app on the iPhone, you would be in the Connections part, hit the + button and select IRC connection.
Fill in Description: Jackinchat
Address: irc.dal.net
Nickname: whatever name you want to use, i.e. pornlover69
Real Name: don't put your actual name unless you want people to see it. can put in there whatever you want
Join Rooms: tap on that and add: #jackinchat (it needs to have the # sign and no spaces)
Then hit Connect and you should be good to go

Yeah it works on all iPhones and iPads. I have it on both of mine and it works fantastic. Its not free, but I've tried the free ones and they are terrible.

colloquy and rooms each cost $1.99 according to the app store. Just FYI.
I use a free app for my iPad3 called IRC999. It is available from the app store and does a good job. I used Ben's 2012-04-24 post above to configure once. Thereafter, I select Jackinchat and the rooms I want, and I'm off and running.
I haven't used other apps, so can't speak about functionality, but I can read the posts, see pictures, open links, copy/paste, and type messages.
