Breaking this out from a question I asked in the "Married guys who play together....the unwritten code" thread.

I've thought several times of using craigslist as a means of finding guys who are regional to me in hopes of having my first M2M experience. Like a lot of guys here I want to expand the of potential buddies who are close enough to actually get together with, but at the same time I need to be very discreet. I know from using CL for general buying and selling that anything you click onto stays highlighted. Needless to say I can't use CL to look for a buddy and be able to "cover my tracks" after browsing. Anything highlighted in the personals section will surely raise a red flag to the wife of what I'm up to. Any suggestions or solutions to this?

Use Firefox. Set it to "Private Browsing."

Delete your history when you shut down or set your comp to do it automatic when you shut down.

Thanks for the input so far, great suggestions that are appreciated. A few issues though. First, any change to my browser such as firefox would be a change to what we have in out SHARED computer. again don't want to raise red flags as to why I'm changing things. Same with setting the computer to automatically delete history on shutting down. I do delete specific sites manually to cover my tracks but that doesn't do the trick. I do have my own yahoo account for "extraciriculars" and yes meeting publicly (only after establishing a level of comfort and trust through email and chat) is a must. Thanks again for all of your efforts. I guess what i really want to know is there any way to prevent or "un" highlight a category at CL after you've been browsing it.

Use the latest version of whatever browser you're using. I assume you are using IE. The recent versions have private browsing, or 'porn mode.' No one else using the computer will know you used private browsing.
Once the browser history of your visit to a specific link or category on craigslist is deleted, it should not show up as highlighted anymore. It might be best to delete all craigslist history to be sure, then click on your normal craigslist categories during a non-private session to restore a normal 'browsed' appearance.
Use a throwaway email address specific for your craigslist dalliances. NEVER use your name, partial name, or give out your real name or address to anyone over this email address. Never use your 'real' email address for these purposes. I found it easiest to make up a name and use that persona online and when I meet people for this. Meet people at a coffee shop and give them your address there, if you decide to use your own home. Never disclose any info online that could personally identify you.
Beware the social networks. While not an issue on craigslist; many, many sites have facebook/twitter tie-ins that can post on your behalf if you have hit 'agree.' I found to my horror once in a chat room that each individual line of my chat was being sent out on my 'normal' twitter feed. While I was able to quickly delete these, if your friends receive your updates to their mobile phone, this can result in highly embarrassing conversations.
If you are logged into facebook and continue to browse the web on other tabs, facebook knows where you go on the web, if you care. Log OUT of twitter/facebook before doing your private surfing sessions. This goes for google, too. Google knows you better than God, especially if you use any of their 20+ services (youtube, blogger, gmail, google+, picasa, etc) Log OUT of google and use Startpage.com for your private web searches. They do not track you or store your search terms or IP address.
Your use of a mobile phone is a whole other discussion. Cops now take your phone and suck the data off of it at traffic stops, password or no. Your phone records will absolutely be subpoenaed/accessed in any criminal or divorce situation. Law enforcement routinely goes through citizens mobile phone data without a warrant. All the major telcos have given them open access for this. You can buy a 'burner' prepaid phone with cash, although this might be hard to 'splain if somebody finds it.

If you have anymore specific questions, PM me and I can help you out.

And on a related note, if you decide you want to meet someone, meet first in a public place before you go someplace to play.

This. Definitely meet someplace public, like a well-lit parking lot first.

As far as covering your tracks, as other have pointed out, ever browser has some sort of private browsing option which won't save any of your history. Just be sure to turn it off when your done to restore your previous session.
Turn on. Tune in. Drop out.
