In what is a disturbingly increasing occurance here at JC, I will end up in a pvt chat with an idividual, making small talk, then questions come up about whether I'm married and if I have kids.

I'll go so far as to say that I have kids but that's it. However the individual will go on to ask such things like if my kids have ever seen me get out of the shower, is my son circumsised, and similar things.

The minute a question about my kids turns even remotely sexual in nature, I immediately terminate the chat, no goodbye, that's it.

It would seem to me that even asking such things about minors in a chat room would constitute some kind of violation of pedophelia laws and I'm wondering if such a thing happens again, can I report the user to the JC mods? Transcripts of chats can be copied and provided for proof.

A lot of crazy shit happens on these boards and in the chat, which is fine, I have no problem with 99% of the things discussed here. But when the discussion turns to minors, especially MY kids, I check out.

And God help you if I were to ever meet you in person.

No, I hear ya there, not saying I'm going to run to the cops. But I do wonder if there is a law against soliciting information or engaging in sexually oriented conversations about children in a chatroom or a message board, I mean in a converstation with another adult.

I'm glad you guys feel that way about this issue. Absolutely come to a moderator with reports of stuff like this. We take this very seriously, so dont be afraid of coming to us. I try to stay logged into the chat at all times as either Ben or Ben_Away.

Just message a moderator with the person's exact name and a summary of what they were saying. if there are no moderators in the room, please join the help room by typing this without the quotes: " /join #help " There are other moderators in there that can help you.

I admit, I'm a real bitch/hardass when it comes to people mentioning anything remotely involving children or minors. You just. dont. do it.

I am always very appreciative of chatters who identify others who are asking questions about children or who are disclosing pedophilic activities. I also really like that we can copy/paste from the java so that I can see what these folks are saying. It's frightening.

I have reported underage guys on this site a couple of years ago to Anna who say in their profiles that they're 18, but in a post they'll mention something about not really being 18 and contact them to find out how old they really are.... Those posts to me a immediate red flags for a number of reasons:

1. It's gross.

2. I sometimes feel like it is one of those kiddy porn watch dog groups who are actually baiting the chatter, which also doesn't seem right either.

3. With the state of our current government I also feel that the slightest mention of children will get your ass locked away for a long time. So, I feel the same way you do MarriedCock.

I hope this posts makes sense. I have never been propositioned to discuss children, but I have seen plenty of posts/id info of people who are trying to get others involved.

May I suggest that we can all "imagine the stuff" that will be talked about. But "imagining" it is all we can do until a discussion really happens. You seem to assume that pedophilic discussions will inevitably ensue. The overwhelmingly vast majority of the time, people that go out of their way to tell you they are a Dad will have discussions about incest-related themes. We get reports from users about this, and in our own findings talking with these guys.

I would have thought it more likely that people would be pointing out that they are married and fathers and therefore, straight... perhaps to dissuade other people from assuming that they were looking for some sort of gay contact.

That would be my first assumption on seeing that kind of name.

I come from a culture which presumes innocence until otherwise proven.

But, I will stand by my original analysis. I must remain dubious that the word "Dad" is sort of a code word that INEVITABLY means "I want to talk about children." In any case, if that was what I wanted to do, I'd choose an age younger than the 50 yo example you gave. A 50 year old man would be far more likely to have adult children than underage children. Regardless of his real age, if he wanted to attract someone to talk about children, it seems he would say he was 30, or maybe as old as 40.

And I note that your concern seems to be "incest related themes." Up to now, the thread discussion has been about "underage children." Only in some cases are the two subjects one and the same. I have a hunch that you just don't like people announcing themselves as "Dads", whichever or whatever subsequent discussion ensues. And I'm certainly not persuaded that you have pursued a sufficient number of "reports from users" or have sufficient "findings" from your own questioning of the individual "Dads" to allow the sweeping generalizations you assert.

Please understand that I am not questioning your authority to take whatever actions in the chat room you feel is appropriate. I just think that your decisions on this matter are actually based on rather flimsy anecdotal evidence and personal bias, not a mathematically valid statistical sampling.

That said, I certainly respect your's and Anna's overall chat room experience compared with mine. You have to be there a lot....and it's a dreary place. God help you.
