edit: in the IRC channels

I got an untimed ban for one yesterday, even though I had sent the exact same link earlier in the day, and upwards of 90% of what I post is images uploaded to various porn discord servers.

To be clear, does this mean discord invite links, or any link with 'discord' in the URL?

If it's the latter...it kinda sucks. Discord is one of the best repositories of images and one of the easiest ways to upload a pic to get a quick URL.

So? What's the deal, exactly? I see people being given untimed bans from #pornjackin after sharing images that are hosted on discord, but there is NOTHING in the rules that says so!!

This is a BAD RULE and BAD ENFORCEMENT!

Here are the main issues:

#1) One of the easiest ways to share an image URL for a picture that you have on your computer (I have folders upon folders of saved images!) is to send it to somebody in a discord DM. This instantly gives you a URL which you USED to be able to share in #pornjackin.

#2) Discord is full of porn servers that supply endless reams of images. I would say that it's the single best repository of porn pictures. Reddit is a distant second.

If you want to prohibit "spam" of discord invites, why does this require giving an untimed ban to anybody who shares a pic that happens to be hosted on discord?

IRC is a declining platform but it's stuff like this that will really finish off quality places like this. :/

I also seem to have been banned for posting a Discord link a few days ago.

Discord links were setup to be on the ban list due to the fact that we kept getting spammed discord server links saying that jackinchat has one.

Every 15 minutes the bot states

[17:45] (@JackinBOT): WE DO NOT HAVE a Discord server and because of spam the sharing of Discord Links will be a bannable offence just like unsee.

This has been in place for about a month now so unless you are ignoring the channel and don't see what the bot says as far as updated rules, then that is your fault not ours.

They were also banned due to the high amount of rooms that were being shared were sharing underage content.

I do apologize for not making a statement post regarding it but things in my real life have been extremely hectic and some things may have slipped by me.

Adiemus, there has to be a better way to prevent the spamming of discord invites than by auto-banning the word "discord."

So, let me get this straight...I save a link i like from more than a month ago and re-post it in the room and get an untimed ban because it had the word discord in the link.
There is something wrong with that and has to be a better way to deal with spam than just banning someone.
i guess now i know why the number of people in the pornjackin room keeps dropping. See ya around if I get re-instated.

Number hasn't dropped at all, it's pretty steady at the number it has been for 2 years.

If you can think of one and code a bot to do so then by all means I am open to suggestions or the people sharing the underage images could stop but that is not likely to happen.

The words have actually been removed and the untimed ban is actually only 2 days.

I am sure that you can find other porn on that big thing called the web to jack too in those 2 days.

i find Discord utterly useless to understand.i wouldnt go anywhere near it.

Dont feel bad. I got a permanent ban just for clicking on an invite. Apparently a bunch of guys got banned for the same thing..
