Good question and I believe you might be correct. I think the studio-produced content has been on a downhill slide for a while. I rarely get off to any of it and don't find that many of the stars are all that hot - mostly fake tits, etc. Homemade porn, Onlyfans, and Chaturbate-type sites are really good. Yes, studio based porn has been on a decline due amateur content gaining more popularity and increasing in quality. But that does not mean it's done for thanks to the pandemic and sites like OnlyFans. OnlyFans has it's own restrictions and has led several ~ahem~ talents to leave the service. You also have to take some of the model into consideration. With OF a content creator may charge per clips in addition to the sub a customer might be paying - not all of them do this but it's a great way to make more cash from a moneymaking perspective but it sucks if you're trying to get the most out of your subscription.

In contrast, thanks to the there being more hosting platforms and vendor sites along with affordability of better cameras, lighting and editing software self-produced adult material is much more accessible and easier to make right at home for porn stars without having to travel to shoot locations or dealing with the studio contracts and the demanding schedule for _ number of films/scenes a year. Not to mention custom clips. By comparison that, format beats OF.

Does that mean death for the professional side of the industry? Not likely. It's like with music, film and even pro wrestling - a lot of folks wanna go where the easy/fast money's at. It takes more effort to start up and do it all yourself and a lot of people aren't trying to do that right out of the gate.
